Class Details:
I teach every Monday (except Bank Holidays and when I am travelling abroad) at Lawley Community Centre. Classes take place between 7:00pm and 8:30pm and combines a mixture of technique, cultural context and performance skills all wrapped up in laughter and fun.
I believe that every woman can be a great dancer and I am passionate about ensuring that my students are taught in a positive and nurturing manner whilst providing those who want to perform, with the opportunity to do so. Performing is not essential and does not prevent you from coming to class.
Classes are £5 weekly or bookable in a block of 4 weeks at the cost of £16 (saving £4)
PLEASE NOTE, Classes have started again for January 2016 but newcomers, as always are welcome to attend. Please note, classes usually continue over the holiday periods to keep you dancing!
Zahira
Zahira is an arabic word for 'luminous and light' and is the name of the performance group of the class. This is not a troupe and joining the group is not dependant on experience. All that will be asked of you performance-wise, is that you know the choreoraphy and want to perform. Performances tend to be within the region making them accessible to dancers but occasionally (and depending on availability of dancers), we will be asked to perform outside of the region by other teachers and friends. Please note, we dance for FUN, not for money unless its for charity.
What to wear:
If you are learning to bellydance for the first time, it is important that you are comfortable in suitable attire. Please ensure that you wear loose fitting comfortable clothes (i.e. tshirt and leggings or a long skirt) and if you have them, dance pumps - if not, bare feet. Trainers and jeans will be limiting so it is not advisable to wear them at classes. Bring a bottle of water too!
What to do next....
Contact Abi at [email protected] or on 07528 481048 if you have any more questions or want to check any details. Alternatively, you can just turn up at class - everyone is welcome. It would be really helpful however, for planning, if you are a complete novice and want to attend, to contact me before the class to let me know so I can plan accordingly.
Class Location
Classes are held at Lawley Community Centre, Arleston Lane, Telford, TF4 2PR. It is located right next door to Lawley School and there is plenty of free and secure parking.
